AppEx CloudWAN solution can be widely applied in AWS, dedicated to accelerating the AWS service access and data transfer between different AWS regions. Four use cases are provided to introduce how AppEx CloudWAN helps AWS customers to improve their user experience of AWS access.
Service Access Optimization solution is used for the below scenario.
Customer has some enterprise application server (like OA, ERP) which will be accessed around different regions, especially around the whole world. The user experiences will NOT be good enough because of the adherent packet loss and latency issue over cross-border Internet. To guarantee the user experiences, AppEx CloudWAN Solution will be used as the following.
AppEx deploys edge POPs in AWS different regions to take over the redirected access from the clients by using Global DNS Resolution, and then transfer the traffics to Origin Server through CloudWAN core network.
With CloudWAN optimization, the user experiences from different regions can be improved significantly.
How to leverage Auto Scaling and Multi-AZ ?
To guarantee the Performance and High-Availability, and to save the cost, the edge POPs are deployed in an Auto Scaling group behind AWS Elastic Load Balancer (ELB).
Cloud Watch is used to monitor CPU utilization of the running edge POPs (EC2). The CPU utilization will go up if the traffic load turns heavy, when the CPU utilization exceed the predefined threshold (80%), a new EC2 with edge POP AMI will be automatically launched and added into the Auto Scaling Group to scale the performance up.
Meanwhile, edge POPs are also deployed in multiple Amazon Availability Zones to ensure uninterrupted AWS service access if one Availability Zone is down.
Data Transmission Optimization solution is used for the below scenario.
Customer has some application servers located at both Office/IDC/Cloud and AWS, and data transmission is always required between Office/IDC/Cloud and AWS. Because of the adherent packet loss and latency issue over cross-border Internet, the data transmission efficiency is NOT good enough, so AppEx CloudWAN solution is used to make the data transmission faster.
CloudWAN POPs are deployed on EC2 instances in different AWS Region and Availability Zones to guarantee a reliable service.
Both Office/IDC/Cloud application server and AWS application server are connected to CloudWAN POPs via IPSec or the other security tunnel, so that the data transmission can be transferred through CloudWAN core network.
